Perfect summer dress and shoes!

Hello! I am bored at home today, and so I thought I would do a quick fire post about the perfect summer dress and shoes that I recently purchased. Hopefully it can help you if you are looking for something pretty to buy 😊



Firstly is a dress I bought in topshop whilst on holiday in Cornwall a couple of days ago. I was looking for a graduation dress, and I knew I didn’t want anything too fancy, so when I came across this dress I was so excited! It’s a lovely bright blue colour which is great as I love to wear bold colours, and luckily they are in style right now tooπŸ’™. The material is linen, and so it is very lightweight and airy,  perfect for a hot summer’s day. As you can see, it is a crossover dress and ties in at the waist, which is very flattering and feminine, if that is what you are after. The sleeves are very flowy which is again great for summer (no sweat patches), and is again a very flattering style! The dress is on the pricey side, costing Β£46 but I got student discount, and I know I will be wearing it a lot, so hopefully it will be worth the price! 



To go with the dress, and found these absolutely perfect heeled shoes on asos. I wore these at graduation and got so many compliments from strangers, it was so sweet! They have pointed toes which I think is very elegant, and have a strap around the ankle which gives a feminine and dainty touch. The shoes have a shiny gold base colour, and on top of this has lots of textured flowers. These are even more beautiful in person and look beautiful when walking on grass. The shoes have a number of colours so I think it will be easy to pair these with many dresses, and I am also planning to wear them with blue high waisted jeans and a plain white top. Again, they were on the pricey side, coming in st Β£40, but they are great quality and are going to be getting a hell of a lot of use!

GRADUATING WITH A FIRST πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ“Β 

Hello! I am a graduate!!!!! (Hope you can tell how excited I am!) 


On Wednesday I officially graduated with a first class degree from the university of Birmingham. (Eeeek!) 


Graduation was such a special day. If you want to read about it please continue- also I will do a post about what I wore and how I did my make up so please look out for that if you want to πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ“

My graduation ceremony began at 9:45am, which is early enough already, but we had to be there two hours early to collect tickets, get fitted with our robes and have our pictures taken. That means I had to set my alarm for 5:30am to get myself ready πŸ™ƒ I stayed at my boyfriends house in Birmingham and then we both walked to meet my friend so we could go and get tickets and robes together. It was so fun wearing the robes and getting the pictures taken was also fun, although I have  a feeling I am going to hate mine. 


After we got ready, I met my family who had driven from the Cotswolds that morning. By the time they arrived it was time to get seated. It was amazing as a live orchestra played in the great hall at the university, which is such a beautiful building to graduate in. They called our names one by one and we went into the stage, shook hands with the vice chancellor and then walked through the middle of the audience. This was pretty nerve wracking and the main thing on my mind was not falling over! Luckily that didn’t happen.
Once graduation was over, we all swarmed outside for photos and food, as well as pimms (the best thing ever). I was so lucky that the weather was amazing!! 


Robes had to be returned and after consuming a lot of food and drink, my family and I headed to a lovely restaurant nearby to have lunch. The restaurant is called the white swan, and I highly reccomend it if ever you find yourself in Birmingham! 


It was such an incredible day that I will never forget! But now I have to go out into the real world and find a real job and live in a real house, which is all quite overwhelming but I guess taking it step by step will be less daunting.

A happy holiday in Cornwall! & life update πŸŒž

Hi! 

Wow I am so sorry it has been so long since I posted! 

I finished my exams at last! And since then I have been quite busy, as well as having days doing nothing πŸ˜€

Also I thought I would mention that I got my results and got a first! Pretty chuffed 😊 I graduate on Wednesday so I will post something about that after!

Anyway. 

For the past week I have been in Cornwall on a family holiday. It was me, my two sisters, my parents and my boyfriend, and of course our dog Nora. 


We stayed in a chalet in a place called gwithean. We have been staying in this part of Cornwall for our summer holidays since I was born, so it is always so amazing coming back there and reliving childhood memories. 


The place is pretty small for 6 people, but still so cute and homely. Also, it is very close to the beautiful gwithean beach- you just have to walk across some sand dunes and you’re there! 


Also, there’s a really cute cafe called the jampot that you walk past on the way there where you can buy cream teas and other yummy treats! We had an amazing breakfast there on the last day.


We packed in a lot of swimming, surfing and wandering around pretty towns. It was such a good holiday and I can’t wait to go back soon!

Day Time Make Up Look

Hello! 

I have worn proper make up for the first time in a long while, since it being exam season and all! So I thought I’d make the most out of this rare occasion and write a blog post about it πŸ˜…πŸ€“ I went out for lunch so it’s a girly summery look, which I adore πŸ™‚ (sorry about the state of my hair… I hadn’t styled it yet 😜)

So read on if you’d like to find out which products I used! 

Firstly I used the Simple kind to skin vitamin day cream. This is the first day cream that I have properly loved and used every day as it is a great consistency which is light and not oily.

I then used my Maybelline Fit Me concealer around my eyes, which I just blended with my finger. I use the lightest shade.

Then I used my trusty no7 city light tinted moisturiser which I applied with a beauty blender. Sorry I bang on about this product so much! 


Next I used the Urban Decay Naked face pallete for my blusher and highlighter. As you can tell from the picture, I tried to go easy on these products, just as I prefer the natural look. I used the eye shadows from this palette too, using the lightest shade as a base and then layering some darker shades around my crease and blending with my fingers (I need to learn to use brushes properly). I also used the mascara from this palette and it’s literally incredible. I wanted a bit of extra volume on my lashes just because it was a meal out so I wanted a bit more oomph than normal! 


Last but not least I used the NYX soft matte lip cream in the shade Milan. It’s a bit pinker than what I would normally wear but I wanted to mix things up πŸ˜‹ and that’s it! Easy peasy. Let me know if you have any questions or reccomendations!

April Favourites

Hi lovelies!

As it’s coming to the end of April, I thought I would share my first ever favourites! There’s a mixture of items and I know there are also things I have left out, as my room is a tip right now so it’s hard to find everything πŸ™ƒ 

Let me know if you have any questions or if you have any recommendations! 

1. Bobbi Brown foundation stick (shade warm ivory).

Believe it or not I found this in my local charity shop, as they were doing a special make up promotion. I think I paid Β£5 for it, and it hadn’t yet been opened! It’s so creamy and moisturising and leaves my skin glowing. 


2. Bobbi Brown art stick (shade dusty pink). 

My kind mother bought me this for Christmas. It’s really easy to apply and lasts really well. Also it’s such a nice shade of pink for the spring, and I wear it almost every day.


3. No7 City Light tinted moisturiser (shade light).

I’ve posted this in a previous beauty post but I’ll post it again! It’s honestly amazing, has everything you could need for a light skin coverage and it’s price is an added bonus. Perfect for summery days where you don’t want to look caked in makeup. 


4. Beaded earrings 

This is a random one but I purchased these earrings in a little independent shop in Exeter. They are lovely and pop a bit of colour to your face. Also if you are like me and have sensitive skin, these silver earrings are great. 


5. Rose gold ‘Frends’ headphones

I wanted these headphones for so long, but they were quite expensive, so I went on eBay and found them for about half the price. They are really good, with a good sound quality and very comfy to wear. Also they are rose gold so. Good times.


6. Wild Guide – a travel guide to the south west

My boyfriend got me this book, and it is filled with ideas for quick weekends away in the south west of England. It shows the best places for wild swimming, free camping, amazing views and all other interesting ideas. So if your an adventure seeker or need ideas for a fun weekend, this book has you sorted. 


7. No7 nail polish (shade Persian Blue).

This nail polish is so fun and a lovey colour for spring! It is also really easy to application which is a plus for if you are awful at nails like me.


8. Rosie for autograph Eau De Parfum 

This is a beautiful floral scented perfume from M&S. It is described as having ‘deep woody undertones’ and top notes of ‘pink pepper and lemon essence’. All I know is that it smells great, lasts long and is perfect for summer. Oh and it’s pretty cheap for a perfume! 


9. Olivia Burton big dial bee watch

This watch is just so lovely. 


10. Collaborative coconut frozen ice cream (dairy free)

As it’s revision time, I wanted to treat myself to a yummy snack. Coconut is probably my favourite flavour, and so when I spotted this I’m Sainsbury’s I was very excited! It is also chocolate flavoured, so it gets even more amazing if that is possible. It tastes wonderful and is dairy free. Win win!

Nora

Simple Summer Make Up (all no7)

Hi guys!

Recently in England the weather has been glorious! (I say recently, as right now it is snowing… wtf). Regardless, I thought I would share with you my favourite make-up look and how I achieve it.

It’s pretty simple, and I’m no make up guru, but if you want a natural look, then the products I use are perfect for this!

This look is using one of my all time favourite make up brands, which is boots own brand, No7. No7 can be found in pretty much all Boots stores, is pretty cheap, and is really good quality! I will list the products I have used below.

Skin mousituriser and Primer

First I use the beautiful skin dry skin rescue on any really dry areas, like my nose. Then I use the airbrush away primer to prime my skin. This primer is amazing as it is hypo-allergenic, which is really good for sensitive skin like mine! It works amazingly and makes my make up last all day. Also, it has no scent, which I love. 

Tinted moisturiser

Tinted moisturiser is my go-to in the summer. It is super lightweight, moisturising, gently improves skin colour, and most importantly it protects from UV rays, which prevents skin ageing. This one from No7 also protects from environmental stresses, which is great for me, as I  live in Birmingham. 


Blusher, bronzer and highlighter

This trio was on a deal when I bought them, and this is the second lot I have got! They are honestly amazing, and such good value if you dont want to splash out on more expensive brand. They are a creamy consistency, and so blend in really naturally, leaving a dewy finish. The highlighter is a pearly colour and is beautiful. I put this on the tip of my nose, the bridge of my eyebrows, my cheekbones and the top of my lip. The bronzer is a lovely bronze colour, and again blends really nicely. And the blusher is also amazing! It goes on quite strong but it is easy to blend out or build up. 

Eyes

Eyes are my favourite part to do when I my make up. As my hairs is blonde, I like to choose bronze colours. This No7 eyeshadow is really pigmented and leaves a shimmery finish. Then last but not least the mascara! It is not clumpy at all, and lasts all day without dropping! I highly recommend it as a lengthening and defining mascara. 

 Lips

In the first picture of me, I am wearing No7 ‘Pillarbox’ lipstick.

Current hair care routine!

Hey guys!

Hair is a defining feature and so it is important to take care of it! I thought I would share with you my current hair care routine, as it is definitely changed how may hair looks for the better!

I have had highlights and so I really need to nourish my hair to stop the bleach drying it out, and so I choose conditioning products. Another thing that is important to me is to use natural products that don’t use too many chemicals, and so brands like Burts Bees are my go to!


Without further ado, this is my routine!

1. Brush hair before showering using my trusty tangle teezer

2. Shampoo my hair once with my Burts Bees moisturising shampoo (this smells incredible and contains all natural ingredients so basically it’s the best things ever) then condition it with the Burts Bees matching conditioner, leaving it on for a couple of minutes. Thoroughly rinse hair and finish off with cold water to close up hair pores (this stops frizz and makes hair extra shiny).

3. Let hair dry naturally! I try to use as little heat as possible so that hair damage is limited! If I am feeling like my hair needs a bit of extra conditioning, then I’ll add a tiny amount of coconut oil to the tips, making sure it is applied evenly!

Finding nature in the city

Growing up in the Cotswolds surrounded by never ending fields, and being able to discover the beauty of nature just outside your doorstop seemed natural to me, and it made me take it for granted! So when I moved to Birmingham for university 2 and a half years ago, it was a huge shock!

Birmingham is the second biggest city in the U.K., and is definitely not know for its natural beauty! Walking round the city, you may not see a single piece of wildlife other than pigeons for the whole time! This was something I didn’t think would really affect me, but it did end up making me really miss the serenity of the countryside. So I made it my mission to find nature in my new home.

This is easier than you would think! With a bike, or using public transport, there is actually a vast amount of parks, hills, lakes and nature all around the city. I cycled to some of these places, and they didn’t disappoint! It’s perfect if your stressed and just want to take some time out to chill. 

So if your looking to do the same, try lickey hills in Birmingham, or cannon hill park which is walking distance from the university. Let me know your favourite parks where you live!

Revision tips

Hey guys! 

Some of you may know that for many of us it is now exam season (screech). This makes the prettiest time of year into a nightmare. After 2 years of uni, and getting through this mostly breakdown free, I thought I’d share a couple of revision tips that I use when revising! 

1. Fuel your brain. I got this advice from my mother at a very young age. And doing psychology I know how true this is! You need energy and calories for your brain to work at it’s optimum! Without this energy, it is hard to concentrate, stay away, and utilise your amazing brain power! So have a big breakfast, and choose something with calories. I usually go for porridge with fruit, or if it’s an exam day I treat myself to something like scrambled egg and beans. 

2. Don’t overwork yourself. This is an important one, and one that it took me a while to learn! Of course everyone wants to work hard, and this becomes even more apparent when you see posts of everyone around you doing work, which makes you feel like you can’t ever take a break! But breaks are so important, and my degree taught me that your brain works best in 20 minture bursts. So if you can work to this, do. If not, try hour long episodes of work with 20 minute rest breaks in between. It will make you feel great!

3. Sleep well. Okay I’m going to say every one of these is imporant haha! But sleep really is! My psychology degree drills into us how important sleep is for everyday functioning, as well as for making your brain work at it’s optimum. He recommended sleep for teenagers is 9 hours. This is sometimes hard to achieve, but getting to bed early and rising early means a full day of work can be had! I sometimes find it difficult to get to sleep, and I would find myself scrolling through instagram and YouTube before falling asleep! This is hard to stop, but set yourself time in the day to do this so there isn’t as much to catch up on at bedtime! Also, I made my iPhone turn off its blue light in the evenings, as blue light tricks our brains into thinking it’s daytime, and so makes it harder for us to fall asleep! Anyway, yes, sleep is good! 

4. Out of sight out of mind. Along the same theme as above, phones are big distractions. I say this as I’m using my phone to write this instead of revising! But it’s for the greater good… i found that moving my phone so that I can’t see it, or turning it off really stopped me from being distracted. It’s simple but it works.

5. Test yourself. This one is something I am passionate about. Mainly because it is what I wrote my dissertation on! All the literature that I went through showed that testing yourself on what you are learning is the most important factor in long term memory of the information. This can be by using flash cards, setting yourself questions and writing the answers out without looking at notes, or asking other people to test you. It works! And if you don’t believe me then ready my very exciting dissertation πŸ™ƒπŸ˜³
